Since 1989, CARAS has been providing $ 1,000 cash scholarships annually to exceptional students enrolled in post-secondary Music Industry Arts Programs. These Scholarships have assisted many young Canadians with the help they need to develop their talent, and launch their careers.

Students at the following schools have been recipient's of a CARAS Scholarship:

St. Francis Xavier University,Antigonish, Nova Scotia
Musitechnic Education Services Inc., Montreal, Quebec
Humber College, Toronto, Ontario
Harris Institute for the Arts, Toronto, Ontario
Fanshawe College, London, Ontario
Grant MacEwan College, Edmonton, Alberta
The Banff Centre, Banff, Alberta
Selkirk College, Nelson, British Columbia
Capilano College, North Vancouver, British Columbia
The Art Institute of Vancouver, Vancouver, British Columbia

Students receive $1,000 each, a commemorative certificate, a one-year complimentary CARAS membership and two tickets to the Juno Awards show.

Winning students are selected by a committee of instructors from each school, based on the following criteria:
Must be in his/her final year
Must have obtained at least a B average throughout the course
Must demonstrate strong performance ability and potential
Must demonstrate leadership skills
Must communicate well
Must demonstrate a consistent dedication to improvement and excellence in their work
Must be a Canadian citizen or a landed immigrant of Canada

Future Commitments

CARAS' future commitments include raising awareness of the importance of music education; increasing the number of Band Aid grants awarded annually, sponsoring the Coalition for Music Education in Canada's survey on the state of music education and, developing additional significant MusiCan initiatives to not only support music education, but also music in education.
